We are happy to announce the half-day workshop <\/em>“Involving Your PI in Your Career Development<\/em>“.<\/em><\/p>\n

Target group: <\/strong>Junior researchers (late-stage PhD students and Postdocs) who would like to get the support of their PIs or other senior researchers in their career development.<\/em><\/p>\n

Goal:<\/strong> Becoming aware of the possibilities and limits of involving your PI or other senior researchers in your career development. Developing a personal plan in this regard.<\/em><\/p>\n

Date: Monday, 14 November 2016, 13:00-17:00 o\u2019clock<\/strong><\/em>
\n Duration: 0.5 day<\/em>
\n Place: GZMB building, Justus-von-Liebig-Weg 11, seminar room 0.232<\/a><\/em>
\n Trainer: Dr. Katrin Wodzicki<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Content:<\/em>
\n Do you wonder how your principal investigator (PI) could support your career development? In the workshop, you get input in why it might be important to involve your PI and in which form. We will elaborate topics relevant and useful to be discussed with your PI, also in the light of different career decision regarding an academic or non-academic career. We will moreover discuss potential risks of raising critical topics and how to deal with individual challenges. Goals of the workshop are to become clear about which topics you would like to involve your PI in, what to consider in this regard, and to come up with a concrete goal of how to involve your PI in your career development. The workshop will also allow to reflect on further support options you have depending on your situation and career goal. The workshop can also be used to prepare for one-on-one employee review (planned to be obligatory for university’ employees starting in 2017<\/a><\/span>).<\/em><\/p>\n

Practicing the conversation with the PI is not intended during the workshop. In case of interest of about 6-8 participants, the organization of a communication training might be possible.<\/em><\/p>\n
