He obtained his PhD in 2011, working in the group of Prof. Bert de Groot, while enrolled in the IMPRS \u201cPhysics of Biological and Complex Systems\u201d. After several years working as a postdoctoral researcher, in 2017, he was appointed&nbsp; the head of the Max Planck tandem research group in computational biophysics at the University of Los Andes in Bogot\u00e1, Colombia. His research aims at understanding how biomolecules carry out their function using concepts of physics and chemistry, along with computational tools. His chosen career path has permitted him to conduct cutting-edge basic research while contributing to education in his country of origin embedded in a stimulating international cooperation framework. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Date:<\/strong> Friday, 23 August 2019<br><strong>Time:<\/strong> 14-16h<br><strong>Location:<\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/lageplan.uni-goettingen.de\/?ident=1524_2_EG_0.232\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>GZMB building, Justus-von-Liebig-Weg 11, seminar room 0.232 (ground floor)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For organizational reasons<strong> please write a short email to <a href=\"mailto:career@gauss.uni-goettingen.de\">career@gauss.uni-goettingen.de<\/a> if you plan to attend.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the sessions: <\/strong>Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a\n platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related \ntopics for PhD students and Postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. \nBy inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to \nillustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and \npostdocs and give inspiration for career choices.
