{"id":5198,"date":"2025-05-21T14:20:26","date_gmt":"2025-05-21T12:20:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ggnb-blog.uni-goettingen.de\/?p=5198"},"modified":"2026-09-21T14:20:59","modified_gmt":"2026-09-21T12:20:59","slug":"workshop-succeeding-in-academic-interviews-24-25-june-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ggnb-blog.uni-goettingen.de\/?p=5198","title":{"rendered":"Workshop \u201cSucceeding in Academic Interviews\u201d, 24-25 June 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We are happy to announce our next GAUSS Career Service workshop \u201c<strong>Succeeding in Academic Interviews<\/strong>\u201d by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uni-goettingen.de\/en\/585922.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Franziska Jantzen<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop is intended for Postdocs and late-stage PhD students preparing for the next big step in their academic career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dates: Thursday, 24 June 2027, 9:00-16:30h and Friday, 25 June 2027, 9:00-12:30h<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Duration<\/strong>: 1,5 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Location: <\/strong>in-person on North Campus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Trainer: <\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uni-goettingen.de\/en\/585922.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dr Alexander Britz<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Registration<\/strong>: Please <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gauss.uni-goettingen.de\/career-registration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>register here<\/strong><\/a> (in case you are not registered yet) and send an <strong>email to <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:career@gauss.uni-goettingen.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>career@gauss.uni-goettingen.de<\/strong><\/a> including a <strong>short statement on your motivation<\/strong> to attend the workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Workshop description<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop provides structured preparation for applying for junior and tenure-track professorships. Participants receive in-depth and comprehensive information on the individual elements of the hiring process, as well as the qualifications required for a successful application for a professorship. Unwritten rules and potential micro-political processes are also addressed. To help participants practice for the application process, the interview with the appointment committee is simulated in small groups so that they can learn to answer difficult questions confidently and elegantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>understanding the individual steps and requirements of an appointment process (for junior and tenured-track professorships) at universities in Germany and will be able to assess when the right time is for them to apply.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>knowledge of potential micropolitical processes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>learn techniques and receive information on how to approach the job application process well-prepared, both professionally and mentally<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gain insight into how to prepare application materials that meet the requirements during the hiring process<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>get familiar with the negotiation process after a job offer and apply negotiation strategies to advocate for your goals with confidence and success<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are happy to announce our next GAUSS Career Service workshop \u201cSucceeding in Academic Interviews\u201d by Franziska Jantzen.
