Information about the speaker:
Cindy Wechsler studied chemistry at the Georg-August University in Göttingen and after her diploma in organic chemistry she stayed in Göttingen and joined the group of Prof. Kai Tittmann in the Department of Bianalytics. During her PhD she worked on enzymatic catalysis in the framework of a DFG Forschergruppe (FOR), within the GGNB Grad school. In 2012 and 2013 Cindy was student representative of the GGNB PhD-students and was head of the organizing team of the WoCaNet 2013.
After her PhD Cindy joined the group of Prof. Michael Müller at the pharmaceutical and medicinal department of the University of Freiburg for a PostDoc. Here she applied her organizational skills as coordinator of the DFG FOR Project in which she had performed her PhD Thesis as well as her analytical skills during supervision of Students and PhDs. During her postdoc Cindy continuously applied for jobs in the pharmaceutical industry, when finally joining Pfizer Manufacturing Deutschland as Manager Site Compliance after a one year Postdoc in 2015.
During her talk she will explain what skills that she acquired during her time in academia were helpful to get to where she is today and which skills she lacked and how she could gain them nevertheless.
Cindy will also give an insight in her job in the regulatory world of a big pharma company and highlight differences to the academic working environment.
