Apply for Dorothea Schlözer Career Promotion Programme for Female Postdocs until 20 January 2017

The Dorothea Schlözer qualification programme for postdocs offers female postdocs at Göttingen University or at the Göttingen research campus the chance to promote their career development and prepare them for a leading (international) role in research and academia.

The one-year intensive programme provides female scientists and scholars of different disciplines with training and coaching in key academic skills as well as practical career-relevant knowledge relating to international science management, research funding, leadership skills, appointment procedures and networking.

The programme combines a wide range of methods (individual and group coaching, workshops and training) as well as information and intercommunication options with advisors from inside and outside Göttingen University.

Job offerings and information about working in the public sector in Germany

For those of you interested in working in the public sector in Germany, we want to point out the homepage www.bund.de, a gateway to the services and online information of the German Federal Administration and other public agencies in Germany.

Here you can search for job offerings in the public sector or find lists of public tenders, an index of all federal institutions in Germany, all kinds of application forms and information as well as links to many different federal services.

The homepage www.interamt.de also offers a search engine to find job offerings in the public sector and provides advice and tips about application and job interviews with regards to careers in the public sector.

Career Fair „Working in International and European Organizations“ – 28 January 2017, Berlin

The Annual Career Fair „Working in International and European Organizations“ hosted by the Federal Foreign Office takes place on Saturday, 28 January 2017, between 10-17h in the conference area of the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.

The event addresses students, graduates and employees who are interested in working for an International or European Organization.

Over 35 organizations, like the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the African Development Bank or the European Space Agency (ESA), answer your questions about career opportunities and entry possibilities. Additionally, presenters from trainee programs offer support if you want to start a career in an IO.

Information about the speaker:

After finishing a Master degree in chemistry at the University of Freiburg i. Br., Christina obtained her PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Bonn. From 2000 to 2003, she was a Research Associate at the neurobiology laboratory at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, working on neurotransmitter release.

From 2006 to 2010 she was part time lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences in Lübeck. During her scientific career, she co-authored more than 10 peer-reviewed publications and was involved in several grant applications. In 2004, she was co-founder of the ProSciencia Beratungs GmbH, where she focuses on acquisition and scientific management of technology driven research projects, support in grant- and paper writing as well as training on related topics.

Since 2010, she is active as an evaluator for the EU in the Marie-Curie Program and since 2012 also in the health program.

DKFZ Career Day: Project Management, 2 December 2016

If you consider project or science management as a career option and wonder how other scientists made their way into this field, the DKFZ Career Day “Project Management” might be an interesting event for you.

It takes place on Friday, 2 December 2016,  at DKFZ Heidelberg.

Registered participants can join one of the round tables with speakers from academia, industry and beyond. There will be lots of input about tasks and skills of project and product managers during their presentations and the chance to address specific questions in an open atmosphere during the panel and round table discussions.

Participants can also get a professional picture taken by a photographer during the Career Day.
