Join the Next WoCaNet Team – Kick-Off Meeting, 19 January 2015

After an amazing Women’s Careers and Networks Symposium (WoCaNet) on 20 November 2014, the organization of the next one in one-and-half year is already starting. So if you enjoyed visiting the last one and would like to be involved more closely in the next one, or you are looking for some learning and networking opportunities, come to the kick-off meeting for WoCaNet 2016 and get to know what it means to organize such a meeting!

Here is the invitation of the last organizing team:

In January 2015, a new team of PhD students and Postdocs will assemble to start organizing the next Women’s Careers and Networks Symposium (WoCaNet) which will take place in spring 2016. The kick-off meeting will take place on Monday, 19 January 2015 at 6 p.m. in the large seminar room (ground floor) of GZMB. During the meeting, the basic tasks behind organizing the symposium will be explained. This allows people interested in joining the organizing team to get an impression and to ask questions. For those of you who decide to get involved, a workshop will take place in February 2015 where the old team will train the new team, the team members will get to know each other and divide in subgroups to tackle the tasks.

The meeting’s goal is to bring together young scientists to meet successful women from diverse backgrounds like academia, industry and politics to exchange experiences and to discuss diverse career options. In November 2014, 180 participants attended the third WoCaNet symposium at MPIbpc which also included a career fair, a workshop, a group discussion and a networking dinner. For more information and impressions, please visit www.wocanet.uni-goettingen.de.

Looking backwards, we can assure you that organizing WoCaNet 2014 was a lot of fun and a rewarding experience!

If you are interested in joining the kick-of meeting on 19 January 2015, please drop us an e-mail at wocanet@gwdg.de.

We are looking forward to seeing you soon!

Promoting the career development of young female scientists and scholars and preparing them to play a leading international role in research and academia – these are the objectives of the qualification programme for postdocs at the Göttingen research campus. The one-year intensive programme provides a small group of up to 12 female scientists and scholars with training and coaching in key academic skills as well as practical career-relevant knowledge relating to international science management, research funding and networking.

The programme is open for Dorothea Schlözer postdocs, all female scientists and scholars working on their Habilitation, as well as female postdocs, junior research group leaders and junior professors at Göttingen University and the Göttingen research campus.

The programme will start on 17th/18th March 2015 with an obligatory kick off workshop. Applications are to be submitted by 26th of January 2015.

The call is available here.

The DAAD published comments reviewers made on grant proposals in the first round of the programme. These are not only interesting when applying for this funding, but also give a general insight in what reviewers perceive to be important.
