Networking Dinner for Female Researchers, 28 April 2014

The UMG mentoring program is organizing a networking dinner for female researchers. During the dinner you have the chance to meet female researchers with different kind of careers inside and outside academia. These researchers will talk about which factors influenced their career decisions including having kids.

Dorothea Schlözer Scholarships 2014

In support of young scientists and scholars, the Presidential Board of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen announces that scholarships for young female academics are available in the context of the research-oriented standards on gender equality set out by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation). In the sixth call for applications for the winter semester 2014/15 nine scholarships/fellowships will be awarded. Those eligible to apply are young female scientists and scholars aiming for a senior position in academia/research who intend to conduct a research project in cooperation with scientists/scholars at the Georg-August-Universität (including the University Medical School, Göttingen). Final date for applications is 31st May 2014. Funding begins on 1st October 2014 (in the Medical School 1st January 2015).

Workshops on Self-Assessment and Career Planning

I already pointed out the importance of knowing yourself to catch recruiter’s eye. Assessing your skills, interests and values is an important basis for many career decision, might it by changing your career path or improving your competitiveness in a current career path. An instrument for individual self-assessment, I already introduced on the blog, the MyIDP. However, performing self-assessment and making conclusions based on it is more fun – and from my perspective also more effective – with support from experienced trainers and peers. So here is your chance:

The Academic Human Resource Development of the University of Göttingen is offering three workshops on “self-assessment and career planning” this year.

Based on identifying your current competencies, interests and values, you will learn about opportunities for development and plan your next career steps.
