Workshop: Being a good PhD supervisor – tools and best practice (only for postdocs; in German)

The Hochschuldidaktik (Section for teaching and learning in higher education) is offering a workshop on “Being a good PhD supervisor – tools and best practice” for postdocs and professors on March 1, 2018. If you are interested in the one-day workshop (in German), please register  here by February 15, 2018.

The success of a PhD is not only depending on the motivation and suitability of the PhD candidate but also on the support and guidance provided by the PhD supervisor. This workshop is aiming at exchanging different kinds of PhD supervision and enabling a dialog on best practice and challenges of supervision. The intention is to provide a forum for scientists to self-reflect on their actual supervision role and to provide basics in current trends of professionalizing the field of PhD supervision.

Learning objectives are

  • What is my role as a PhD supervisor?
  • What are the tools and how I can effectively use them in which situation?
  • What are the legal frameworks and conditions?
  • What are special challenges of PhD supervision?

The next workshop is scheduled for March 1, 2018 from 9am to 5pm (Waldweg 26, room3.117/3.119; Tract I, level 3).
