About the speaker:

Sung-Hui is an alumnus of the IMPRS Molecular Biology MSc/PhD program. He performed his doctoral thesis in the lab of Prof. Marina Rodnina at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry (now MPI-nat). He elucidated the kinetic mechanism of human translation initiation and finished his PhD in 2020. Prior to his PhD in Göttingen, Sung-Hui did his master and bachelor in Biochemical Science and Technology at National Taiwan University in the field of plant science and synthetic biology.

Following a bridging Postdoc at MPI, Sung-Hui moved to Munich and joined a start-up company, Insempra, as a scientist in 2022. There, he established a cell-free protein prototyping platform and facilitated in-house strain engineering. Sung-Hui will talk about how he translated his PhD expertise into a start-up R&D team.

About the sessions:

Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices.
