This workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to project management. It is aimed at postdoctoral researchers who would like to add project management to their skillset und apply the principles to their own research.

Detailed description:

The course will not only provide an overview of the theory and principles of traditional and agile project management, but also teach participants to apply these principles to their research projects during the course. While the workshop will introduce participants to various tools it will focus on simple pragmatic approaches that can be implemented without having to buy and/or learn a software do not require a long set up time and can be adjusted easily. As part of the course participants will immediately start to apply the newly learned principles to a project of their choice and collect feedback from the group.

During the workshop participants will understand what a project is, what project management is about, how to select the appropriate project management approach and how to plan, track and execute a project using these approaches, while accounting for the high level of uncertainty that is inherent to research projects.
