GAUSS Career Impulse Session “How to launch your own business?”, 22 January 2021

We are happy to announce our first GAUSS Career Impulse Session in 2021 co-hosted by the university’s start-up support “How to launch your own business?” with Dr. Ulrich Vetter (Nagl & Vetter GmbH) and Martin Stammann (start-up support, Göttingen University)

To start a successful career as entrepreneur is often thought to be closely linked with a sound business idea and a well working business model. However, when talking to venture capitalists it becomes obvious, that the personality of the founder, its team and its feeling for an appropriate timing is often much more relevant. Therefore, this impulse session sheds a spotlight on the personality of successful founders. During the last years in the realm of Göttingen University several successful start-ups were created involving scientists, alumni, and students of our university.

About the speaker(s): Dr. Ulrich Vetter (Nagl & Vetter GmbH) studied Physics at Konstanz University and Cinese Language at Fudan University Shanghai. He did his PhD at Göttingen University on wide band gap semiconductors. He held various positions in teaching and research e.g. at  Marburg Univerity, TU Ilmenau, and HAWK Göttingen. He will give us a good insight in his career as successful founder. He explains what personal opportunities you can expect when approaching a market as an entrepreneur.

The session is moderated by Martin Stammann, leading manager of the start-up support / Gründungsförderung. Moreover, Martin will inform you what opportunities the “Gründungsförderung” provides for you on your personal way to become a successful entrepreneur.

About the sessions: Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices.
