5-day online GMP course (28 September – 2 October 2020) – register now

We are happy to announce another 5-day course on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Due to the current situation the course will take place online this time!

Dates: Monday 28 September – 2 October 2020

Registration via email to career@gauss.uni-goettingen.de (your data will be forwarded to the course organizers)

Fees: The registration fee depends on your current status:

  • Enrolled students/PhD students pay 179€ (early bird) or 249€ (regular fee),
  • Postdocs pay 359€ (early bird) or 499€ (regular fee).

(Early bird registration ends on 28 August 2020)

All participants receive a course certificate after successful completion of an online exam at the end of the course

The course language will be German as it predominantly deals with guidelines and regulations specific for the German market.

Online Workshop “Career Planning: What are my further career movements”, 6-7 July 2020

We are happy to announce our next GAUSS Career Service workshops: “Career Planning” by Dr. Matthias Merkelbach.

What are my unique abilities and interests critical in determining the right career path for me?
Can I combine my ideas about a fulfilled life with a career outside of university and academia?
How can I develop a strategy for embarking on a non-academic career path?

This online workshop helps to answer this – and other – questions for all those who want to plan their career development strategically.

Workshop Description: The ability to deal with conflicts is a key component of professional conduct and an important factor for personal and professional success. The workshop enables the participants to experience conflict as agent of innovation, professional and personal development. Conflicts are often perceived as painful, disruptive and stressful. Only rarely the potential for innovation and change is realized and appreciated. This seminar examines conflicts in regard to their chances and challenges to introduce a constructive concept of conflict as social normality. The participant’s conflict solution competences are strengthened and activated to deal with difficult situations. Professional communication as tool for conflict solution is explained and practiced.

Online Workshop “From a Successful Job Application to the Job Interview”, 15 May 2020

We are happy to announce our next GAUSS Career Workshop ” From a Successful Job Application to the Job Interview” by Barbara Hoffbauer. This workshop is intended for those postdocs and late stage-PhD students who are already informed about various professional perspectives outside academia and have reflected their own suitability for different career paths.

Date: Friday, 15 May 2020
Duration: 1 day (9:30-17:00h)

Workshop Description: The first part of this workshop focuses on the application documents. In exercises the participants will reflect their individual achievements so far and learn how to convincingly present them in the CV as center-piece of every application. Analysing real job ads the participants will practise how to write cover letters that create the desire to meet the author. They will get advice on how their determination for a specific career path can be reflected in CV and cover letter and what other application documents to include considering differences between jobs in science and industry.

We are happy to announce our next project management workshop “Fast Forward – The Ultimate Productivity System for Researchers” with Dr. Nadine Sinclair.

  • Start Date: Monday, 27 April 2020
  • Information event via video conference: Friday, 17 April 2020 at 9:00h (registered participants will receive invitation to video conference beforehand)

Workshop “Leaderships and Teams”, 22-23 April 2020

We are happy to announce our next GAUSS Career Service workshop “Leadership and Teams” by Dr. Nicole Eulenburg.

Postdocs are often asked to supervise PhD candidates and graduates. In this role it is imperative to be aware of and be able to deal with your own expectations and those of others – a skill which sometimes needs to be acquired first. The workshop teaches leadership tools for situations from the academic and non-academic fields on a general basis and in the context of individual experiences. These help to create a picture of the principal leadership elements and an understanding of how to use them.

Dates: 22-23 April 2020
Duration: 2 days, Wednesday and Thursday, 22-23 April 2020, 9-17h

We are happy to announce our next GAUSS Career Service workshop “Job Hunting and Application Skill” by Gaby Schilling.
