Career Impulse Session (26 April 2019) with Manuel Landesfeind (Evotec): “What to expect from a job in a pharmaceutical research organization and how to get one”

We are happy to invite you to our next Career Impulse Session titled “What to expect from a job in a pharmaceutical research organization and how to get one” with Dr. Manuel Landesfeind from Evotec.

Manuel Landesfeind studied Computer Science in Göttingen having Biology as “area of application” and did a PhD in Bioinformatics at the Department of Bioinformatics (Prof. Morgenstern). Directly after his PhD, he joined Oncotest (Freiburg, Germany) which was acquired by Charles River Laboratories – one of the largest pharmaceutical research organizations. After nearly 3 years with Charles River, he took the next step in his career path and joined Evotec AG (Göttingen, Germany). In his talk, he will present the working environment of contract research organizations like Charles River and Evotec as well as job opportunities in these areas.

Information about the speaker: At Oncotest/Charles River, Manuel was responsible for multi-omics data-analysis on patient derived tumor samples. He led the development of the Tumor Model Compendium website of Charles River, which serves as a product catalog for hundreds of clients. In his new position at Evotec, he is responsible for supporting his colleagues with the analysis of experimental data as well as the continuous development of Evotec’s proprietary pan-omics data-analysis platform.

About the sessions: Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and Postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices. The sessions also offer a platform to exchange experiences among each other.
