We’re happy to announce yet another GAUSS Career Impulse Sessions, this time with patent attorney Dr. Roland Graf from Zwicker Schnappauf & Partner Patentanwälte München.

  • Date: Friday, 3 December 2021
  • Time: 14:00-15:30 (appr.)
  • Location: online
  • Registration: Please write a short e-mail to career@gauss.uni-goettingen.de if you plan to attend, so we can let you know about further details concerning the login details in due time!

About the speaker:

Roland is an alumnus of the MSc/PhD Program Molecular Biology and, until 2007, performed his doctoral research in the department of Prof. Herbert Jäckle. After obtaining his PhD, Roland decided to leave academia and enter patent law.

After obtaining his admissions to practice German and European patent law and working for a major international law firm, Roland has found a new home at the renowned Munich based IP firm ZSP. In his daily practice, Roland advises clients from the pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech industries in all patent-related matters, bringing to bear his broad scientific background  and propensity for dabbling in finicky questions of law. Roland will give a short introduction into the educational path towards becoming a German and/or European patent attorney, describe his daily work and the career opportunities for scientists in intellectual property.

About the sessions: Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices.
