We’re happy to announce our next GAUSS Career Impulse Sessions, this time with Dr. Ole Frister from Bayer AG.

About the speaker: Ole is an alumnus of the “Biomolecules: Structure – Function – Dynamics” program and former students’ representative of the GGNB. In his PhD Thesis in the lab of Prof. Dr. Marina Rodnina at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, he studied the binding and catalytic dynamics of Elongation Factor P during translation. He received his doctoral degree in 2018. 

Before joining GGNB, Ole studied in Hannover, Göttingen and Cambridge mainly focusing on broad spectra of natural products and their application. After defending his thesis, Ole joined the Bayer AG as trainee in the Internation Future Leadership Programm in product supply, during which he gathered on-site experience in Germany, Switzerland, US and Italy. In his current role he supports the company vision of “Health for all, hunger for none” as quality assurance manager in the area biologic development. His work consists of a mixture of project management, strategic quality improvements measures, QA-oversight of biotech facitilties, hands-on troubleshooting and lots of fire fighting.

About the sessions: Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices.
