We’re happy to announce our next GAUSS Career Impulse Session, this time with Dr. Farah Raad, senior scientist at Roche in Basel. In this session, Farah will talk about her postdoc and R&D career in industry as well as her experiences working for different companies and starting a new job with a young family.

  • Date: Friday, 30 August 2024
  • Time: 14:00-15:30 (appr.)
  • Location: online
  • Registration: Please write a short e-mail to career@gauss.uni-goettingen.de if you would like to attend.

About the speaker:

Farah joined the lab of Prof Wolfram Zimmermann at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology to do her PhD in Stem Cell research and the bioengineering of a human heart muscle to recapitulate embryonic cardiac development. After graduation, she stayed in the lab for 4 years as a postdoc to wrap up projects. In spring 2020 Farah joined Boehringer Ingelheim for 2 years as a postdoctoral research fellow to establish a kidney model for toxicity assessment of drugs during the preclinical stage. This paved the way to subsequently join Roche in Basel within the Investigative Toxicology group in 2022 working on projects and in vitro model development for both the kidney and liver drug induced injuries. Farah is happy to share her career journey and experiences also regarding starting a new job with a very young family.

Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices.
