In this session, Jeremy will talk about his journey from science to data science. He will give insights on his transition and the skills required for a successful career in data science. Moreover, he will also describe his current work and give a brief overview of job opportunities.
- Date: Friday, 9 August 2024
- Time: 14:00-15:30 (appr.)
- Location: online

About the speaker:
Jeremy has studied Theoretical Physics in Marseille and Lyon, France. He obtained his PhD in 2020, focusing on ‘Active Matter’ at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organisation – IMPRS-PBCS.
After receiving his PhD, Jeremy moved to Stockholm, Sweden, for a Postdoctoral position followed by a Researcher position at Nordita in Applied Mathematics. Already interested in data science during his PhD and exploring the interactions with data and machine learning, Jeremy transitioned from academia to industry in 2022. Since then, he has worked as a Data Scientist at AstraZeneca.
Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices.
