In this session, Mirna will talk about her academic career journey so far taking her from Göttingen to Paris – sign up for the session and learn about her passion for research and the lessons Mirna learned on her way.
- Date: Friday, 13 September 2024
- Time: 14:00-15:30 (appr.)
- Location: online
- Registration: Please write a short e-mail to career@gauss.uni-goettingen.de if you would like to attend.
About the speaker:
Mirna is an alumna of the GGNB PhD Program “International Max Planck Research School Physics of Biological and Complex Systems”. She graduated in 2020 in the lab of Karen Alim at the MPI for Dynamics and Self-Organisation in Göttingen, where she studied the physical basis of behavior generation in the slime mold. Her interest in behavior generation in non-neural organisms took her to the Institut Curie in Paris, where she is doing her postdoctoral research as a MSCA Fellow. In the lab of Mathieu Coppey and collaborating with Aleksandra Walczak and Thierry Mora at the ENS in Paris, she is studying information processing capabilities of eukaryotic cells through the lens of information theory, as well as cellular communication by means of bioelectricity. Determined to pursue an academic career, Mirna is passionate about teaching and popularization of science, as well as promoting inclusivity in the research community.
Our Career Impulse Sessions offer a platform for interactive and informal exchange about career-related topics for PhD students and postdocs in the Life and Natural Sciences. By inviting PhD holders with different career paths, we would like to illustrate the broad range of potential careers for PhD students and postdocs and give inspiration for career choices.
