Workshop description
In this workshop, participants learn how to prepare effectively for application processes in the non-academic job market, with a particular focus on the different phases and requirements of job interviews. After the workshop, participants will be able to describe their individual job-relevant skills and unique strengths in a way that is meaningful to non-academic employers, present themselves professionally and authentically in a job interview, and handle unforeseen or challenging situations with confidence.
The workshop focuses on reflecting on individual competencies and translating academic experience into relevant skills for the non-academic job market. Participants will engage in practical exercises around frequently asked interview questions and techniques, learn how to deal with critical or unexpected questions, and develop their own authentic self-presentation.
A short section on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in interview preparation will explore how AI can be used effectively and appropriately to support interview preparation – for example, to practise interview questions – and where potential limitations and pitfalls might lie.
Methodologically, the workshop combines short input phases, guided exercises, practical interview activities and feedback rounds.
