BioBusiness Summer School, 25-29 June 2018, Amsterdam

 

The BioBusiness Summer School offers PhD students and Postdocs with a background in Life Sciences who are considering a career outside of academia the chance to support their career orientation in industry and to increase their understanding of business aspects of Life Sciences.

The interactive five-day programme covers subjects such as product development, personal development, Harvard-style business cases, intellectual property, business models, entrepreneurship and finance and includes world-class high profile speakers from the industry, site visits to Life Science companies and international networking opportunities.

Dates: 25-29 June 2018
Location: Amsterdam & Leiden/ Netherlands

Places are limited. If you register before 1 March 2018 you can take advantage of the early-bird fee (985€ including VAT). The regular fee is 1.145€ (including VAT). The deadline for application is 1 June 2018.

“Freigeist” Fellowships for Postdocs (Volkswagen Foundation)

The “Freigeist” Fellowship scheme is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation and open to junior researchers (up to 4 years postdoc experience) from all research disciplines.

Funding is available for your own position (head of junior research group) for up to € 1 million and 5 (+3) years.

If you are an outstanding junior researchers who wish to carry out research at the boundaries between established fields of research, then check out further details below and online and apply by 11 October 2018.

“Deutscher Studienpreis” (apply by 1 March 2018)

Annually the Körber Foundation is awarding the “Deutsche Studienpreis” for outstanding dissertations (magna or summa cum laude) in all disciplines.

In addition to scientific excellence a specific significance for the society is of particular importance. However, the focus is not necessarily lying on the economic exploitability but on the macrosocial benefit of scientific results.

We are happy to announce the our next GAUSS Career Service workshop “Exploring the Unknown – The Company World” by Gaby Schilling.

Target group: Postdoctoral scientist and late-stage PhD students who are currently applying or planning to apply for a position in industry.

Goal: Getting to know different departments and their functions in a company and reflect about whether related jobs could be a good fit for your interests and profile.
